Message from the Chief of Police

Thank you for visiting our website. I appreciate your interest in learning about the Endicott Police Department and the services we provide. I’m honored to represent the outstanding group of professionals that make up our department.

The Endicott Police Department is comprised of 33 sworn officers, 2 non-sworn administrative staff and several other non-sworn staff who work part-time in parking enforcement and as crossing guards. We are accredited through the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Law Enforcement Accreditation Program, which was the first state-sponsored law enforcement accreditation program in the country. The department was among the first departments in New York State to receive accreditation, which we have continually maintained since 1990.

The safety and well-being of Village citizens, businesses and visitors is of paramount importance to the police department. To address that concern, the department proactively attends to crime and safety issues, in addition to answering your calls for service. Our philosophy for crime control is: “if we take care of the little things, the big things take care of themselves.” No problem is too small for our assistance and even minor issues are addressed if they disrupt the quality of life for village residents and visitors. As a village police department, we value being part of our community and developing strong partnerships. On a daily basis, officers of the department professionally engage in duties associated with traditional police roles and responsibilities. As you will see on the various pages of our website, we are also involved in a number of activities that extend beyond responding to calls and traffic enforcement. We are proud to house the multi-jurisdictional Endicott Bomb Squad, which is accredited through the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The department also has officers assigned to the joint Southern Tier SWAT team along with members of the Broome County and Chenango County Sheriff’s Office. We also have a Bike Patrol, a School Resource Officer (SRO) and a Community Response Unit (CRU) that is designed to identify and address problem locations that require a concentrated police effort.  Our K9 unit is temporarily out of service due to the retirement and resignations of our K9 officers, but will be back soon.

I encourage you to visit each page of our website to learn about the various programs we offer and the history of the department. We take great pride in our accomplishments, but will never be content to rest on the success of the past as we deliver the services that the public deserves.

I invite you to contact me with any inquiries or concerns you may have that will assist our agency in serving you better.
